Posted on June 25th, 2009 No commentsIn Bank of America’s new commercial they play patriotic music “…every time you make a purchase you’ll show your support for the men and women who protect our country!” They really pull you in and make you feel like you would be doing something good and supporting them. They at the end of the commercial they quickly mention that this is not endorsed by any branch of the military, nor do they make a contribution to any organizations or military branches because of this program. Part of the reason that they have gotten where they are is through dirty practices that make them a lot of money. One such practice is lining up your purchases, largest to smallest and then deducting from your account. Say for instance over a weekend that you make purchases of $2, $4, $6 and $200. Now let’s say that you only have $200 in your account. Well they take all your purchase and line them up largest to smallest, not the order that you made them. So in < Please click links to the left.

We’ve been happy with them and their customer service for the most part but recently they have started some dirty practices. Some time before 1999 they started the “largest check first” scheme where they order all the charges for your account for a single day and process them by the largest to the smallest. That way if you go over on a big transaction they can subsequently charge you $35.00 overdraft fees for small $5.00 purchases. Is it because we as people really want to hear about the awful things in the world or have we been trained? Yesterday when I heard of the Metro crash in Washington, DC one of the headlines said “Mass Casualty in Train Crash: Two Confirmed Dead”. From the sound of it they have their fingers crossed that it will rise to a devastating number. Posted on June 16th, 2009 No commentsApparently the FDA has issued a recall saying that Zicam nasal spray can permanently damage a users’ sense of smell. Yikes! Thank goodness I have never used that stuff because I wouldn’t have been able to smell that lawsuit rolling in!
